Mackenzie Gorham

Mackenzie is a nuclear engineer for the Department of Energy (DOE) and has worked in many areas over the 8 years such as Nuclear Safety Specialist and for the Radiological Assistance Program . After adapting from homeschooling to early college entrance, she went on to successfully complete a Master of Science in Nuclear Engineering in 2012 and a Master of Science in Environmental Science in 2017. She is an officer of the American Nuclear Society Criticality Safety Division and a contributor to My Amazing Future, a local girl’s STEM outreach event. Mackenzie enjoys skiing, rock climbing, photography, gardening, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and weightlifting. She volunteers at a food pantry, as youth mentor, and leads a Girl Scout troop for daughters of incarcerated women. She’s a mentor for Thriving Elements so she can encourage and share her passion for STEM with the next generation of STEM professionals.
