It’s difficult for me to find a class I don’t like, but I have to say that my favorite subject in school is Biology. I love that you can test your own questions in a way that makes sense to you. I also enjoy that the class is a major challenge for me, being a mainly student-led environment. It’s certainly not something that I am used to, but I am fascinated by the material and knowing that everything that I learn in Biology is happening around me. A hobby of mine is reading. I especially love science fiction novels. I often sit on my lawn chair outside and read until I cannot see the words on the page anymore. Right now I am in NHS and do cross-country after school. In the spring, I play tennis for Foster Sports help release the stress that school can sometimes cause. The Thriving Elements program for me is an opportunity to really see what being a part of STEM is like. I have planned for a STEM career for as long as I can remember, but I’ve never known exactly how to get there. I am hoping that Thriving Elements can direct me to where I need to go and what I need to do to be successful in a STEM career late in life.
